The bars of the cage are made of paper wrapped 18 gauge floral wire that resembled dried twigs. The wires were shaped by hand. the hanger hook "arm" was made of the same wires twisted and woven together to give an organic sinew look to it, and the claws of the hand were made from Studio Sculpey and glued in place.

Full side view of the cage This "portable computer" was born of several ideas from the Discworld novels. The computer of the Unseen University is Hex, which is almost a sentient creature all on it's own as established in the book "Hogfather." Sapient pearwood items are established in the very first books "Color of Magic" and "Light Fantastic" in the form of the Luggage. The traits of the luggage were an inspiration with the feet and the clawed hand (the Luggage has teeth). Camels are established in the book "Pyramids" as the greatest mathematicians on the Disc, and are a natural thing to have in a computer. My friends and I have had a long standing joke about pygmy camels and their uses. Hence the use of the diminutive "You Stinker". Finally Imps. Imps appear in the very first book and later books when the use of a bit of technology like a camera or personal organizer is needed. They are rather quantum in their abilities and having one was the natural choice for a translator and motivator for the camel.

Front view of the cage, door open. Door was hand modeled of thread wrapped 18 gauge floral wire that was further anchored in place with 26 gauge green wire. Silk leaves were added to the front of the door to enhance the "pearwood" look. The Imp, his ink bottle and stick, and the pygmy camel "You Stinker" can be seen.
